Two via ferrata courses near Lunel
Intermediate or advanced level
Small town of 1000 inhabitants, Saint-Sériès is located in the Hérault department 25 km east of Montpellier, very close to Lunel. Digged by the Vidourle, an 85 km long river, come and enjoy a via ferrata at La Roque de Saint-Sériès, a gorge between two rocks at a height of 70 meters.
Overlooking the water almost permanently, this via ferrata Hérault adapts to all levels. The 2 routes it offers have a common departure before splitting into 2 separate routes.
Access / environment
About a hundred kilometers long, the Vidourle river has its source in the Cévennes. It straddles two departments, that of Gard and that of Hérault before flowing into the Mediterranean at the Grau du Roi.
On its way, near the village of Saint Sériès, it passes along a small cliff on which the via-ferrata is located. From the car park, located at the end of the D118 towards the banks of the Vidourle, a 2-minute walk is enough to access the departure from the via ferrata. This little walk provides a view of the activity to come as it largely follows the river (see photo above).
His workshops
150 meters long and with a vertical drop of 60 meters, the Saint-Sérès via ferrata begins smoothly with a small descent along the lifeline. It allows beginners to familiarize themselves with the passage of carabiners ensuring our safety.
Following this a first crossing over the water begins. That's it, you are launched on the via-ferrata. Ziplining along the water, abseiling, monkey bridge and possibly a small climbing initiation all in a magnificent natural setting.
Note the possibility of taking a very difficult passage, on a slope where a short lanyard will be welcome ...
A hesitation? We will be able to juggle between the two courses by combining a zip line, monkey bridges, abseiling and climbing.
These suggested routes will allow you to discover landscapes that are all more magnificent and breathtaking than the others.
